About Us
School Mission: It is our mission, in partnership with families and the community, to provide a safe and caring school where all students are viewed and respected as capable learners who will become successful, contributing members of society. Our School Improvement team assures that we are meeting our mission. We are proud to say, several curriculum goals have been developed to ensure our students are performing at their potential.
MacGregor Elementary School is one of seven elementary schools in the Bay City Public School district. MacGregor Elementary is located on the south-end of Bay City, Michigan, a city near Saginaw Bay at the juncture of two major freeways, US 10 and I-75. Bay City is part of the ‘tri-cities’, including Saginaw and Midland.
We are a school of about 500 students, with 20 classroom and special area teachers to assist in learning. Our support staff consists of: instructional assistants, a curriculum coach, special area staff, intervention specialists, bi-lingual assistant, and speech pathologist. We have 2 administrators and 2 administrative assistants.
We are excited about the following programs currently happening at our school: Read 180, System 44, Reading Intervention Specialist for grades 1 and 2, DIBELS (assessment tool), Tool Boxes (MEAP review program), Write Steps, Math Facts in a Flash, and Universal Breakfast.
This year also begins year one of a 3 year grant from MiBLSI (Michigan’s Integrated Behavior & Learning Support Initiative). Through this grant we will focus on improving reading and behavior of students through the use of a data-driven problem solving model.
